Tom Arnold

Assistant Entertainment Manager
Tattershall Lakes Country Park

Project Influence: Colour Festival

BIOG

Tom started his life in the fishing town of Grimsby not too far from Tattershall Lakes Country Park, where he took many holidays with his grandparents growing up and even lived in Abu Dhabi for a short while. Once leaving school he began his career originally training and qualifying as a pharmacy dispenser. After 3 years he escaped the mundane 9-5 (Cue Dolly Parton reference).

He went to work for Butlins originally on the bar team. Within 4 weeks he auditioned for the role as a world famous redcoat. Tom refers to Butlins as his entertainment University, learning many of his skills. He performed in Children’s shows including Barney the dinosaur, being a DJ for children and adults, children’s activities and presenting. After his two and a half years at Butlins he decided it was time for a change and took to sea life with P&O Cruises starting as an Entertainment Officer working his way up to Deputy Cruise Director. He travelled most of the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Black Sea and Norwegian Fjords.

Aruba is Tom’s favourite place that he visited in his time at sea, simply because of the Flamingo Island and the cocktails whilst laying on a sun lounger. He was most surprised at how small the leaning tower of Pisa was though and yes he did the famous push photo!

After his time at sea he decided to do a bit of travelling on his own around South Africa and settled in Cape Town where Table Mountain stole a little of his heart. Tom then decided to continue his travelling venture as cabin crew with British Airways were he truly learnt just how intense the training was. Whilst with BA he managed to cover China, Japan, Africa, Australia, Canada and most of America including his favourite, San Diego.

Tom took the role of Entertainment Manager for a holiday park in Ireland, drawing in from his experience of cruise ships and holiday park life. He designed the whole entertainment product from arts and crafts, production shows and training a talented team of 12 in the peak season. The park gained the highest scores in history!

In January 2019, Tom took up the role of Assistant Entertainment Manager at Tattershall Lakes Country Park. He is so excited for his first year with Away Resorts as he thinks we offer a high quality product. He has a true passion for people and making sure our families have an experience, not just a holiday.
